Grant applications 2020 - 2021
Grant Applications for 2021 can be made between 1st December 2020 and the 31st January 2021. The size and scope of the grants will depend upon the Trustees' review of the situation at their meeting in October 2020.
In previous years the Trustees have issued the following guidelines, which are included here for illustrative purposes. The Trustees reserve the right to vary, or suspend their grant making activity at their discretion.
In the past the Trustees of Sherborne In The Community agreed to make up to £20,000 available in grants in one year to small charities working with young people in London.
Each grant for a sum of between £500 and £5,000. Decisions about which charities to support and how much to grant will be made by the SITC Trustees in October 2020 based on funding applications and interviews.
Over the past two years grants have been made to charities working with disadvantaged young people in London. More information about these grants is available on our website.
Application process
The process of grant applications have followed the following format in the past. Applicants were asked to include the information listed below.
Applications should be sent to SITC Trustee Roger Watkins email: Watkins.roger24@gmail.com.
Based on the application forms, Trustees may visit appropriate charities by prior agreement during February 2021 to find out more about their work and talk to those involved.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of March, with funds disbursed soon afterwards.
What to include in the application
The application should contain the following information:

What to include in the application

- Background of Charity: The name and charity number of your organisation, when it was founded, what it does, who it supports and how many beneficiaries you have, and your relationship to national organisations, if appropriate.
- How you heard of us: Please describe how you heard of Sherborne in the Community.
- Organisation: Your organisation’s structure, including Trustee Board, staff numbers, volunteers and their activities.
- Purpose and amount of the Grant sought: Please state the amount of the grant being requested and the purpose to which it will be applied. Please indicate the consequences of not receiving the grant and other applications that you have in hand from other grant makers.
- Criteria for success: How you will judge whether the project has been successful, the objectives you wish to achieve. How many beneficiaries will this project affect?
- Timing: Please indicate the date by which you would need to receive funding for the activity for which it is sought to go ahead.
- Resources to implement the project: If your project involves planning future activities, please describe the resources (funds, staff, volunteers) you have to implement your project.
- Accountability and involvement: Please let us know who inside your organisation who should be contacted about this application (name, position, address, email and telephone numbers).
